Collecting food for vulnerable families within our community is a powerful way to teach compassion while meeting immediate needs. When we come together to donate items, the school becomes a place of dignity and support for those facing hardship. It’s a tangible expression of care that strengthens community bonds and reminds every family that they are seen, valued, and not alone. “In Stitches” began with a simple question: What do I love doing? The answer—sewing—sparked the idea of creating something meaningful for our community. What started with sewing tote bags and filling them with essentials for mums and newborns soon grew into a partnership with the maternity ward at Armadale Hospital. We are a dedicated team who are sewing, donating items, and helping assemble these care bags. We deliver around 50 Mum & Baby Care Bags each month.

Each week, mentors show up consistently—offering time, attention, and a steady presence that helps kids grow in confidence, resilience, and hope. It’s a simple model with a profound impact: one hour, one child, one life-changing relationship.

Alta-1 offers young people a fresh start by creating an alternative learning environment built on dignity, belonging, and hope. Through flexible education, mentoring, and a strong focus on wellbeing, Alta-1 helps students re-engage with learning and rediscover their sense of purpose. It’s a place where every story matters and every student is supported to move forward with confidence, resilience, and a renewed vision for their future.
